How to identify the problem of overvaluation

Updated over a week ago

Hi there 👋

It can happen that your portfolio is totally overvalued. You can see this on the balance sheet chart when generating your report.

1/ This is 99% of the time due to a scam token that has been deposited on your wallet.

Indeed, some have exactly the same name as real tokens in order to create confusion. This is the case for example of ALPACA.

You'll be able to see this by generating a report and viewing the stock value of your crypto holdings as of 12/31 of the current fiscal year.

If you cannot find this information in your stock sheet, we recommend that you contact us.

ALPACA is a real token with a value of $0.25 at the time of writing.

Unfortunately, it is also a scam token that may have been airdropped on your wallet. Waltio can't tell the difference between these two tokens and considers that the ALPACA scam is in fact the real one.

In the example below, the client receives 171M from ALPACA, or 144M€ at 31/12/2021.

Then you just have to go to your transactions on Waltio and delete this transaction.
Once you have corrected the other potential scam problems, you can run a scan again.

💡 Here is a non-exhaustive list of mispriced tokens as follows: Alpaca, Whale, Vera, Stake, Alice, Dinu, Flux, SSX.

2/ A token whose quantity in stock is not correct.

In this case, it will be necessary to adjust the balance of this (or these) token by creating a withdrawal or a deposit, according to the situation.

You have to create a withdrawal of the excess amount, or a deposit of the missing amount.

Example : You had 0.000508 BTC in Waltio but in reality, you had 0. It will be necessary to create a withdrawal of this sum at a date previous to the concerned taxable transaction.
