Hi there 👋
Once you have uploaded your documents and performed your analysis, you may be notified of certain warnings. Among them is the warning “Price to be filled in” and indicates that the price of the token in question has not been recognized by our price aggregators.
The capital gain calculation requires knowing the total value of your portfolio at each taxable transaction, so if the price of a token is not covered by Waltio at the date of the transaction, you will have a price warning in the “your taxable transactions” step of the analysis:
Waltio is analyzing more than 1 million transactions per month at the moment, and a few hundred errors have appeared. However, if you see one or more errors concerning a price to be filled, here are the explanations and the steps to follow to solve this situation.
Why isn't the price recovered?
Today's transactions are priceless because the data is not yet available from our data providers.
It may be a token whose value has changed significantly, and you need to alter the price of your transactions (see below, manually changing the price of a transaction). The price has remained the same and in this case you need to enter it in step 3.
💡 To value the price of the cryptos you have in your wallet, we follow the standard of portfolio valuation: we rely on a daily average of the price retrieved from the different aggregators we use.
If you bought a cryptocurrency with a fiat currency or a stablecoin, we will use the conversion of the one against the other.
Ex: I buy 1 ETH at 2000 EUR on June 15. My ETH portfolio will be valued by one more 2000 EUR.
How to manually change the price of a transaction?
You can correct directly in the analysis, by clicking on the token for which the price is wrongly recovered within the taxable transaction, then modifying in the right menu 👇
💡 To know which tokens you should add to the list of worthless tokens, you can follow this article.
You can also correct it on the “My transactions” page:
1 – Click on the transaction in question to display the transaction details
2- Bring up the price comparison (by scrolling to the bottom of the page, right side of the screen)
3- Change the price of the token in question using Coingecko for example.
It is advisable to take the average of the day.
A- Once on the Coingecko website, select “EUR”.
B- Enter the search bar the crypto in question (BTC)
C- At the bottom of the page, identify the price of the day using the graph
D- Fill it in Waltio (bottom right)
E – Click on “Enter” or outside the box and the price is saved, then a confirmation message appears.
💡 In case a token had no price, we recommend assigning a price corresponding to 0.00001 because it is not possible to assign a price of 0 to a token on our tool. If your token does not have a price, then you must, in good faith, estimate it. In most cases, unlisted tokens are tokens with no value or very low value.
👉 You now have the option to add these tokens to your list of worthless tokens.
Bravo, the new price is registered 🎉
⏭️ If this is not very clear, we encourage you to watch this tutorial.
💡 Waltio may not be able to recover the price of a token that is not directly involved in the transaction but necessary to value your portfolio, an element necessary to calculate a capital gain on a taxable sale. In this case, you will have to assign a price to the “unpriced tokens”:
Let's say that on January 20th you have several tokens in your portfolio, including SGT, and that you make a transfer of ATM against EUR without us being able to recover the price of SGT. Although SGT is not involved in the transaction, its price is necessary to value your portfolio, and you should therefore enter it on the day of the transaction reported as a warning by Waltio.
