Closed platforms

Closed trading platforms or deleted accounts

Updated over a week ago

Hi there 👋

You may not be able to retrieve your cryptocurrency purchase history if the exchange has since closed or, you have closed your account.

If you had labeled a transaction as “Closed platform”, we removed this label, because the cash in realized (the amount of FIAT invested) very rarely matched the total amount withdrawn.

Example: You invested 1,000 euros, but generated a capital gain and withdrew 5,000 euros from the platform when it closed.

You will therefore need to create a transaction for the amount of the sum invested in FIAT on the platform that has closed and for which you cannot retrieve a transaction history.

👉 You will also need to create this transaction in case you want to add a closed platform to your Waltio account.

Example: You bought 1 BTC on Mt. Gox, VirWox or Cryptopia on January 1, 2013 for €10 and deposited this BTC on your Ledger on January 1, 2014 when it was worth €700. By creating the transaction of the amount of money invested in FIAT on the platform, Waltio automatically records the acquisition price corresponding to the price of 1 BTC on January 1, 2014, which is €700.

👉 In the case of a closed account on a platform that is still open, we invite you to contact the platform's support so they can send you a transaction history file.

If you have closed an account, without having made a transfer of these cryptocurrencies to a wallet or other exchange, you should fill in the transactions manually in Waltio or use the Waltio format file.

Example: Purchase of 0.3 BTC for €5,000 then sale of these 0.3 BTC for €7,000 on Coinbase. The € sent on Coinbase have been sent back to the bank account. The Coinbase account is closed. You have to use the Waltio format files to declare your taxable earnings or fill in the transactions manually.

💡 If you have many transactions, you can use our Waltio file format.

For a case like this (closed platform), you have the possibility to be fully accompanied by an investigator from Waltio Customer Care team. This is an additional service, allowing you to have a person in charge of your account who can therefore fill in a Waltio file format for you. For any request, please contact hello@waltio.co and detail your need.

⚠️ If the date of a purchase transaction is earlier than the arrival date on a wallet or exchange recorded by Waltio, you must manually readjust the purchase price.

👉 You can directly manually fill in the token price on the date corresponding to the transaction by going to the "My Transactions" section. Once this is done, click on "this section contains the prices recorded for each of the currencies included in your transaction" and change the price of the token in question.

Using the example above, you can change the purchase price of the Bitcoin to €10 (actual purchase price).
