Please keep in mind that Coinbase and Coinbase Pro have different API generation processes. If you are looking to connect your Coinbase Pro keys, click here.

Step 1: Log in to your Coinbase account, click on your profile in the upper right corner, then click on "Settings".

Step 2: Click on "API Access" and then on "+ New API Key".

Step 3: Configure the API settings.

Select all the portfolios you want to connect.

Click on "All" to give access to all your accounts.

Then assign the following permissions:

Check all required API permissions. Waltio only requires "Read" permissions.

Required permissions:

  • wallet:sells:read

  • wallet:buys:read

  • wallet:accounts:read

⚠️ If you don't give access to all of your wallets (as in the example below), then the API will not work. It is necessary that the key has access to all of your wallets.

Step 4: Scroll down and click on "Create". Your API key and API secret keys will then be displayed. Note that Coinbase will only show you the API secret key once, so be sure to copy the keys to a safe place.

Step 5: Wait 48 hours. Coinbase will disable your new API key for 48 hours. This is part of their security measures.

Step 6: Link your keys to Waltio.

πŸ’‘ If your secret key does not appear and you are using Brave we invite you to change your browser. Browsers blocking some pop-ups like Brave may lead to an invisible secret key.

πŸ’‘ Synchronization can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. While waiting for us to retrieve your Coinbase deposit and withdrawal transaction history, you can deposit files from other accounts or connect other APIs.

πŸ’‘ If the API sync is not happening and you are using a VPN, consider checking that it does not interfere with your connection.

⚠️ Coinbase's CONVERTs are very tricky transactions because they potentially realize taxable events via the conversion to euros. Two options are viable: to consider these transactions as taxable operations or not. We have chosen not to consider these transactions as taxable by default in our tool.

⚠️ The following transaction type is not supported by Waltio: Transfer between "internal accounts" (removed to show only cryptocurrency purchases, sales and deposits/withdrawals).

⚠️ Earnings related to quiz/questionnaire/tutorial answers are not taken into account by Waltio. We recommend that you add them manually by creating a transaction or via Waltio's format file.

⚠️ If you delete your keys or change the permissions, it will complicate the analysis.

1 - If you have already deleted your keys then we will not be able to synchronize

automatically. You will have to create a new one.

2 - If you have already modified your keys then we put in "disabled" mode the APIs encountering errors.

3 - If you correct afterwards, you will have to contact the support service via the chatbot at the bottom right of your screen because we perform weekly synchronizations.

4 - The deletion of the keys automatically leads to the loss of all the modifications (recording of labels, prices, etc...) made on the transactions recovered via API.

⚠️ If you add files containing trades read by API, then the relevant trades will be duplicated on Waltio. Our API gives you the choice if you already have Coinbase API files in your Waltio account.

It will ask you to choose between two options:

1 - The recovery of all data since the creation of your Coibase API account.

2 - The recovery of all of your data since the date of your last transaction on your Waltio account.
