Coinbase Sync

Make a Coinbase Sync connection with waltio to automatically retrieve your transactions from your Coinbase account

Updated over a week ago

Hi there 👋

You now have the ability to add transactions from your Coinbase account through a Coinbase Sync connection. The Sync allows you to connect via API to Coinbase by logging into your Coinbase account (with your email and password) from Waltio.

👉 The result is the same as with a traditional API connection, but the process is much simpler.

⚠️ Coinbase has changed the integration via Coinbase Sync. From now on, this will create an API for each crypto you have in your wallet. Thus, we recommend you to use the API.

To login, please follow this tutorial:

Step 1: Log into your Waltio account, then go to the "My Accounts" page.

Step 2: Select "Coinbase", then "Coinbase Sync".

Step 3: You will be redirected to this page, login to your Coinbase account:

Step 4: Enter the verification code received by SMS on your number associated with your Coinbase account:

Step 5: Confirm authorization

💡 You will receive an email validating the connection from Coinbase (you have no action to take)

Step 6: Wait 48 hours.

Coinbase will disable your new API key for 48 hours. This is part of their security measures.

However, you can view your login on the "My Accounts" page.

💡 The API name is the name of your account (here "Waltio support") and can be changed by clicking on the pencil on the right side of your screen.

💡 It is possible to add multiple Coinbase APIs on Waltio.

💡 "Convert" type transactions generate two transactions in Waltio.

⚠️ Coinbase's CONVERTs are very tricky transactions, as they are potential taxable events by the conversion into euros. While both options, to consider them as taxable operations or not, are viable. We have chosen the latter by default in our tool.

⚠️ The following transaction type is not supported by Waltio: Transfer between "internal accounts" (removed to show only cryptocurrency purchases, sales and deposits/withdrawals).

⚠️ Earnings related to quizzes/questionnaires/tutorials answers are not taken into account by Waltio. We kindly recommend you to add them manually by creating a transaction or via Waltio's format file.

⚠️ If you delete your keys or change the permissions, it will make the analysis more difficult.

1 - If you have already deleted your keys, we will not be able to synchronize

automatically. You would have to create a new one.

2 - If you have already modified your keys, we put in "disabled" mode the failed APIs

3 - Once you make the API correction, you will have to contact our support service because we perform weekly synchronizations.

4 - The deletion of the keys leads automatically to the loss of all the modifications (labels recording, prices, etc...) made on the transactions retrieved by API.

⚠️ If you add files containing trades read by API, then the relevant trades will be duplicated on Waltio. If you already had Coinbase API files in your Waltio account, our API will ask you to choose between two options:

1 - The recovery of all data since the creation of your Coinbase account.

2 - The recovery of all of your data since the date of your last transaction on your Waltio account.
